Volleyball Closes Out 2011 Campaign at Babson

BABSON PARK, Mass. (Oct. 29, 2011) – Despite nine kills and seven digs from sophomore outside hitter Martina Kneifel, the Mount Holyoke College volleyball team fell 3-0 to NEWMAC foe Babson College this afternoon at Staake Gymnasium. The Lyons closed out their 2011 season with an overall record of 9-16 and a league mark of 2-7.

Martina Kneifel Junior outside hitter Kathryn Brummer chipped in with eight kills and four digs for Mount Holyoke. Meanwhile, first year setter Mollyanne Fitzpatrick capped off her outstanding rookie campaign with a 13-assist effort. Classmate Kaleen Iwema added 12 digs for the Lyons.

Babson (17-12, 4-5 NEWMAC) was paced by seniors Alexa Untermann and Meg Flaherty, who each recorded 15 kills. Junior setter Kathleen Lynch dished out 41 assists, while first year defensive specialist Brianna San Diego collected 12 digs and a pair of service aces.
