Chu Notches Double-Double to Lead Volleyball Past MCLA

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (Sept. 15, 2011) – First year setter Alison Chu racked up 19 assists, 15 digs and three kills to lead the Mount Holyoke College volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts this evening at the James T. Amsler Campus Center Gymnasium.

Martina Kneifel

Chu's double-double was the second of her brief career. She has quickly assumed the setter role vacated by recent graduate Kateryna Kuc.

After splitting the first two sets, Mount Holyoke took the next two to seal things. With the win, the Lyons improved to 2-2 on the year. They have fallen just once in 15 all-time meetings with the Trailblazers (2-9, 0-1 MASCAC).

Sophomore outside hitter Martina Kneifel finished with 13 kills, while first year setter Samantha Rosado added 20 digs. The Lyons also received a boost from first year libero Kaleen Iwema, who amassed 16 digs. Sophomore middle hitter Kristina Weld chipped in with four service aces.

Mount Holyoke (2-2, 0-1 NEWMAC) will return to the court on Saturday, when it hosts Wheaton College for a NEWMAC contest beginning at 1:00 p.m.
