Volleyball Enjoys Dominant Day at Elms

CHICOPEE, Mass. (Sept. 24, 2011) – Led by first year setter Mollyanne Fitzpatrick, the Mount Holyoke College volleyball team rolled to a pair of 3-0 victories at Elms College this afternoon. After picking up their third straight win over the Blazers, the Lyons topped Castleton State College for the second year in a row.

Mollyanne Fitzpatrick Mount Holyoke's rookie class set the tone in its first match of the day against Elms (4-8, 0-0 NECC). Fitzpatrick was in the middle of the action, dishing out 10 assists. Many of her passes made their way to Kaleen Iwema, who sent down a career best 10 kills. Alison Chu posted six kills and four digs, while Samantha Rosado added 11 digs. As a team, the Lyons collected 13 service aces. Five of those came from sophomore outside hitter Martina Kneifel.

It was more of the same in Mount Holyoke's win over Castleton State (0-8, 0-0 NAC). Fitzpatrick posted her second double-double of the year on 10 assists and 10 digs while also piling up seven of her team's 19 aces. Chu finished with seven assists. Meanwhile, Kneifel amassed 11 kills, and Iwema tallied eight digs.
 
Mount Holyoke (5-3, 1-2 NEWMAC) is slated to visit Wellesley College on Tuesday for a NEWMAC clash beginning at 7:00 p.m.
