Kneifel Paces Volleyball in Defeat at Wellesley

WELLESLEY, Mass. (Sept. 27, 2011) – The Mount Holyoke College volleyball team fell 3-0 to Wellesley College in NEWMAC action at the Keohane Sports Center this evening. Leading the way for the Lyons was sophomore outside hitter Martina Kneifel, who registered seven kills, eight digs and a pair of service aces.

Kathryn Brummer First year setters Mollyanne Fitzpatrick and Alison Chu distributed six assists apiece. Meanwhile, junior outside hitter Kathryn Brummer delivered three kills, and first year libero Kaleen Iwema added eight digs.

Wellesley (9-5, 3-1 NEWMAC) was paced by sophomore outside hitter Kellyn O'Brady, who sent down nine kills. Classmate Hilary Ayres dished out 21 assists, while defensive specialists Traci Hamanaka and Vivian Hu chipped in with 15 and 10 digs, respectively.

Mount Holyoke (5-4, 1-3 NEWMAC) is slated to host Mills College and Bay Path College for a tri-match on Saturday. After facing off against Mills at 10:00 a.m., the Lyons will take on Bay Path at 2:00 p.m.
