Soccer drops league game at Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Springfield College outshot the Mount Holyoke College soccer team 26-2 en route to a 4-0 NEWMAC victory Wednesday night at Brock-Affleck Field.

The host Pride (6-2-4, 3-1-2 NEWMAC) moved into a tie for third place in the NEWMAC with WPI with their win. Mount Holyoke dipped to 3-4-4 overall and 0-4-2 in conference play. Springfield built a 3-0 halftime lead and added a penalty kick goal in the second half. 

Junior captain Clarissa Govea (Pico Rivera, Calif.) had 13 saves in the contest, tying for the second-highest total in their career.

Putting shots on goal for the Lyons were sophomore defender Schuyler Pettibone (Raleigh, N.C.) and junior midfielder Taryn White (Alexandria, Va.).

Mount Holyoke hosts Wheaton Saturday at 1pm and celebrates Senior Day.
