WESTWOOD, Mass. -- Mount Holyoke sophomore goalkeeper Evie Krieg was named NEWMAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, following Krieg's back-to-back shutouts against NEWMAC opponents last week.

Krieg (Frisco, Texas) totaled 12 saves and tallied her fourth and fifth shutouts of the season, as Mount Holyoke won 1-0 at Clark University on Wednesday and tied 0-0 at Coast Guard on Saturday.

Krieg's eight saves at Coast Guard helped Mount Holyoke negate significant disadvantages in shots (28-3) and corner kicks (11-0), and the 0-0 tie ended the Bears' 10-game winning streak against the Lyons. Krieg made four saves in Mount Holyoke's 1-0 win at Clark, ending a five-game losing streak to the Cougars with their first win against them since 2016.

Krieg has made 67 saves against six goals allowed this season, for a conference-best .918 save percentage. Her 7.44 saves per game also leads the conference.

Krieg is the second Lyon to capture NEWMAC Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors this season, following sophomore defender Schuyler Pettibone (Raleigh, N.C.) on Sept. 3.

In the thick of the hunt for a berth in the NEWMAC playoffs with two games remaining in the regular season, Mount Holyoke hosts Smith College Wednesday at 7pm in the Lyons' final home game.
