Golf Places Five on Liberty League All-Academic Team

TROY, N.Y. – The Liberty League has announced its selections to the 2012-13 Spring All-Academic Teams and five Mount Holyoke College student-athletes were selected. The Lyons, who wrapped-up their season last weekend, posted a combined grade point average of 3.60.

To be recognized on the Liberty League All-Academic team, a student-athlete must carry a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be of sophomore standing at their institution. This is the first season in the conference for Mount Holyoke, which was previously independent.

Mount Holyoke had among the highest selections in the conference with five. Those recognized include seniors Lee Anglin (Milton, Mass./Milton) and Felicitas Gerlach (Munich, Germany/Munich International School), along with sophomores Rebecca Berger (Princeton, N.J./The Hills School), Hannah Falvey (Minneapolis, Minn./The Blake School) and Madi Mendiola (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo).

This season, the Lyons had a number of solid finishes, including seventh at the Middlebury College Invitational and sixth at the Wellesley Fall Invitational. Additionally, MHC participated in its first Liberty League Championship, placing fifth overall amongst the seven competing conference teams.

Individually, Mendiola was named an All-Liberty League First Team selection after placing fifth at the conference tournament. She was also a four-time Liberty League Performer of the Week selection.
