Golf Concludes Action at Williams Fall Classic

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. (Oct. 7, 2012) - Action at the 2012 Williams Fall Classic has concluded and after two days of play, the Mount Holyoke College golf team came away with a 10th place finish. The Lyons, who posted a combined score of 759, were among 14 squads competing at the event. The homestanding Ephs came away with the victory, posting a combined score of 641.

The Lyons were led by sophomore Madi Mendiola (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo), who was eighth overall with a combined score of 164. She shot an 84 on day one and battled back for an 80 on day two.

Senior Felicitas Gerlach (Munich, Germany/Munich International School) was second on the team and 46th overall at the meet, shooting a combined 187 (89-98) on the Par-71 at the Taconic Golf Course. Sophomore Hannah Falvey (Minneapolis, Minn./The Blake School) was Mount Holyoke's third overall finisher, taking 49th place at the event with a score of 188 (100-88).

First year Hannah Lozinski was fourth on the team and 58th overall with a mark of 220 (111-109), while senior Lee Anglin (Milton, Mass./Milton) rounded out the field in the 61st position with a score of 233 (121-112).

Williams' Georgiana Salant was the top overall finisher at this year's event, posting a combined score of 144, including an even 71 on day two.

Mount Holyoke returns to the course next weekend when it plays in its final match of the fall season at the Wellesley College Fall Invitational. Action begins on Saturday and runs through Sunday.
