Golf Finishes Seventh at Middlebury Invitational

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. (Sept. 30, 2012) - Final round action at the 2012 Middlebury Invitation has ended and the Mount Holyoke College golf team finished seventh of 10 teams at this year's event. The Lyons were led by a second-place performance from sophomore Madi Mendiola, who shot a 76 on day two and finished just two strokes behind the winner from Williams.

Mendiola, who placed first among Liberty League opponents in the final standings, shot a 79 on day one and bettered her effort on day two by three strokes to finish with a combined score of 155. Senior Felicitas Gerlach finished 27th overall with a combined score of 194, shooting 99 on day one and 95 in the second round.

First year Hannah Lozinski was the Lyons third-place finisher, taking 39th overall with a combined score of 228 (118 - 110), while senior Lee Anglin placed 40th overall with a combined mark of 239 (116 - 123). First year Katie Poulin rounded out the squad in 43rd (137 - 123) with a combined 260.

Williams, which was the winner of last week's Mount Holyoke Invitational, won the Middlebury Invitational with a score of 651. The Lyons posted a total of 816.

Mount Holyoke returns to the links next weekend when it competes at the Williams College Fall Classic on Saturday and Sunday in Williamstown, Mass.
