Golf Finishes Sixth at Ann S. Batchelder Invitational

WELLESLEY, Mass. - Action at the 2012 Ann S. Batchelder Invitational, hosted by Wellesley College has concluded and after the Final Round, the Mount Holyoke College golf team placed sixth of eight competing teams.  The Lyons, who wrapped-up their fall season at the meet, saw all their players improve on day two.

Sophomore Madi Mendiola (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo) paced the action with a 76 on day two, good for a second-place overall finish. For the weekend, she shot a combined 152. Senior Felicitas Gerlach (Munich, Germany/Munich International School) finished 21st overall, lowering her second round score to 89 after posting a 92 on day one. She finished with a combined 181.

First year Hannah Lozinski Finished 35th overall with a combined 210, posting a 110 on day one and a 100 on day two, while sophomore Hannah Falvey (Minneapolis, Minn./The Blake School) was close behind in 36th with a combined score of 114.

Making the biggest move on day two was senior Lee Anglin (Milton, Mass./Milton), who finished 37th overall. After posting a score of 125 in the opening round, Anglin shot a 94 on day two and help move the Lyons up a spot in the final team standings.

Williams won the event with a combined 623, including medalist honors for Georgiana Salant, as she posted a 72 in the second round to win. The Lyons finished with a team score of 746.

Mount Holyoke is now idle until the spring season.
