Field Hockey Collects Zag/NFHCA Team Academic Award; 14 Student-Athletes Recognized Individually

Gilbert, Ariz. - March 26, 2020 - The Mount Holyoke College field hockey team was recently honored for their hard work in the classroom as the Lyons garnered the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III National Academic Team Award.

The Division III National Academic Team Award recognizes programs that earned a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester of the 2019-2020 school year.

Additionally, 14 Mount Holyoke College student-athletes were named to the NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad. The Division III National Academic Squad program honors student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 or higher through the first semester of the 2019-2020 academic year.

The 14 members of the field hockey program that were recognized includes: Phoebe Aaronson (Mountain View, Calif.), Abby Baldwin (Florence, Mass.), Emma Bowler (Worcester, Mass.), Chelsea Braz (Coventry, Conn.), Julia Klein (West Hartford, Conn.), Kass Lawrence (Holyoke, Mass.), Mal Leighton (Poland, Maine), Maddie Miller (Marblehead, Mass.), Gianna Molinari (Windsor Locks, Conn.), Leah Pendl-Robinson (Branford, Conn.), Micaela Pierce (Newton, Mass.), Margaret Robb (Summit, N.J.), Madi Stover (Topsham, Maine) and Morgan Turner (Chester, N.J.).

Both seniors, Pierce and Turner, have now collected National Academic Squad recognition for all four years they have been on campus. Additionally, Bowler was among 321 student-athletes nationwide to be listed as an NFHCA Division III Scholar of Distinction. The Division III Scholars of Distinction program recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher through the first semester of the 2019-20 academic year.
