South Hadley, Mass. - November 14, 2019 - Following the 2019 season, a pair of Mount Holyoke College field hockey student-athletes were recognized by the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) for their impressive play, as sophomore Phoebe Aaronson (Mountain View, Calif.) and junior Mirei Golding-Powers (San Francisco, Calif.) were both named to the All-Conference team, announced by the league office on Thursday.

Golding-Powers and Aaronson, both named to the Second Team, were vital members of the Lyons' squad that made its 21st-consecutive trip to the NEWMAC Championship Tournament in 2019 and finished the season with nine wins overall. For head Mount Holyoke College field hockey coach Andy Whitcomb, she has now coached 59 student-athletes that have gone on to earn NEWMAC All-Conference accolades underneath her leadership.

Aaronson, a sophomore defender at Mount Holyoke College, started in all 17 of the games that she played in during the 2019 season. Aaronson was a crucial member of the Lyons' defensive unit that was instrumental in leading Mount Holyoke College back to the NEWMAC Championship Tournament for the 21st-consecutive year. Aaronson posted a pair of defensive saves this season, with the first coming against Amherst College on September 5 and the second versus Springfield College on October 1. Aaronson was also integral in the Lyons' 3-0 win over Eastern Connecticut this season, as the sophomore handed out a pair of assists in the victory.

Golding-Powers, a junior forward and International Relations major at Mount Holyoke College, was the Lyons' leader with 25 points on eight goals and nine assists this season. Golding-Powers also 59 shots, 31 of which were on cage, and scored a pair of game winners. Golding-Powers was also tasked with defending a majority of the penalty corners that Mount Holyoke College faced during the 2019 season. A native of San Francisco, Calif., Golding-Powers also set new single-game career highs this season in goals, assists, points and shots this season. Against Roger Williams, Golding-Powers notched two goals and added a helper for a career-best five points, before registering a career-best two assists versus Thomas. Golding-Powers also produced a career-best 10 shots on two occasions, the first against Regis on October 17, and versus Wheaton on October 19.
