Montigny Collects NEWMAC Field Hockey Defensive Athlete of the Week Honors

South Hadley, Mass. - October 21, 2019 - Sophomore midfielder Laurissa Montigny (Enfield, Conn.) of the Mount Holyoke College field hockey team was recognized for her impressive play last week, as she earned New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Hockey Defensive Athlete of the Week honors, announced by the conference offices on Monday afternoon.

Montigny, a sophomore midfielder and Psychology and Education double major at Mount Holyoke College, helped the Mount Holyoke College field hockey team to a pair of wins over Regis and Wheaton this past week. Anchoring a defensive unit that allowed just 7.0 shots per contest in the two-game span, Montigny also contributed on the offensive end of the field, as she had a career-best five-point outing, including two goals and one assist in a 6-2 victory over Regis. One of her two goals versus Regis was also credited as a game-winning tally.

This week, Montigny and the Lyons will begin preparing for a crucial NEWMAC contest with Smith College on Saturday, October 26. First whistle is set for 1 p.m.
