Conti Earns Fourth Weekly League Honor in Golf

TROY, N.Y. - The Liberty League has announced its weekly awards for the week ending April 27 and Mount Holyoke College student-athlete June Conti garnered Rookie of the Week recognition. It's the fourth honor of the season for Conti, who helped the Lyons to their first-ever league championship title last weekend.

Conti, a first year from Amenia, N.Y., was the top finishing freshman at last weekend's Liberty League women's golf championship. Conti fired rounds of 87 and 81 for a two-day total of 168 to finish in fourth place in the indivdual competition. Conti and her efforts also helped Mount Holyoke capture the Liberty League women's golf team title - the first in the history of the MHC golf program.

It has been an outstanding season for the former Miss Porter's School standout, who has finished top-25 in all eight meets this season. She opened the year with a 14th place finish at NYU and picked up her first Rookie of the Week honor after finishing 15th overall at the MHC Invite. Conti also posted 16th at the Middlebury Invitational as the Lyons posted third overall as a team.

Conti also placed fifth at the Williams Fall Invitational with a season-low combined score of 155. She closed out the fall, earning her third weekly honor, with a ninth-place finish at the Ann S. Batchelder Invitational at Wellesley.

The spring competition saw tough conditions throughout the opening weekend, but Conti persevered, finishing 24th overall at the Vassar Invitational to help the Lyons to a seventh-place finish. She rebounded the weekend of April 19-20 with a 14th-place showing at the Jack Leaman Invitational.

Conti played in all eight of the team's tournaments this season, posting an average round score of 82.25 over 16.0 rounds. She is also currently ranked 25th in the region.
