Golf Finishes 5th at Williams Fall Invitational

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Action at the Williams Fall Invitational has concluded and after the Final Round of play, the Mount Holyoke College golf team finished fifth overall in a field of 15 teams. The Lyons which posted a two-day combined score of 649, was led by junior captain Madi Mendiola, who finished in a tie for third overall.

Mendiola posted another score of 77 on day two to finish third with a combined score of 154. First year June Conti also had an outstanding effort, placing fifth overall for her first top-five of the season. She had a combined score of 155, lowering her score by five strokes on day two with a round total of 75 from 80 the day before.

First year Allison Shilling was 26th overall, recording a score of 169 (87-82), while classmate Heeamin Lee placed 29th at the invite with a score of 171 (88-83). Finally, first year Amanda Lee rounded out the team effort with a score of 179 (89-90), which was 43rd overall.

Individually, first year Kelly McElreath tied for 63rd overall with a mark of 200 (103-97), while sophomore Hannah Lozinski finished 67th with a score of 206 (107-99).

Williams battled back to win its own invitational, posting a Final Round score of 313 to finish with a total score of 629. Middlebury was second with a score of 639, followed by Ithaca (643), Amherst (644) and Mount Holyoke (649).

The Lyons return to action next weekend when they compete in their final match of the fall at the Ann S. Batchelder Invitational, hosted by Wellesley College on Saturday and Sunday.
