Golf Places 3rd at Middlebury Invitational

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Action at the 2013 Middlebury Invitational has concluded and after the Final Round of play, the Mount Holyoke College golf team wrapped up the tournament in third overall. The Lyons posted a combined score of 669 for the weekend on the Par-71 course, placing just behind Williams and Middlebury.

Leading the Lyons was junior captain Madi Mendiola who placed sixth overall with a combined score of 165. She shot an 83 on day one and bettered her tally by a stroke on day two for an 82. First year Allison Shilling finished 10th overall, recording a combined 168 (83-85).

First year Caroline Rubino placed 13th in the invitational, recording a score of 169 (85-84), while classmate June Conti was 16th overall with a score of 170 (86-84). First year Amanda Lee rounded out the day 21st overall with a score of 172 (90-82).

Individually, first year Heeamin Lee was 27th with a score of 182 (89-93), while sophomore Hannah Lozinski finished 37th with a score of 212 (106-106).

Williams' Sarah Hasselman earned medalist honors, placing first overall with a score of 155 (79-76), while teammates Georgiana Salant and Shelby Shote tied for second with a mark of 156.

The Ephs won with a score of 628, followed by Middlebury (664), Mount Holyoke (669), Amherst (677) and Vassar (726). 

Mount Holyoke returns to action next weekend when it competes at the Williams Fall Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
