Golf in 3rd After Day 1 at Middlebury Invite

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Day one has concluded at the 2013 Middlebury Invitational and after the First Round of action, the Mount Holyoke College golf team is third overall with a combined score of 337. Williams currently leads the field of eight teams at the event with a mark of 316 on the Par-71 course.

Leading the Lyons through the opening round are junior captain Madi Mendiola and first year Allison Shilling. Both are currently tied for eighth overall with a score of 83. First year Caroline Rubino is locked in a tie for 12th overall with a score of 85, while classmates June Conti and Amanda Lee are 15th and 28th with scores of 86 and 90, respectively.

Individually, first year Heeamin Lee sits in 26th place with a mark of 89, while sophomore Hannah Lozinski is 38th overall with a score of 106.

Williams' Shelby Shote leads the field, shooting a 74 on the day. Teammate Sarah Hasselman is close behind with a 79, while Amherst's Sooji Choi rounds out the top three with a score of 80.

The Ephs hold the lead in the overall team field, followed by Amherst (334), Mount Holyoke (337), Middlebury (338) and Vassar (360). 

Action at the Middlebury Invitational concludes on Sunday.
