Golf Currently 6th After Day One of Jack Leaman Invitational

AMHERST, Mass. - Under sunny skies and a light breeze, the Mount Holyoke College golf team powered its way into the sixth position after day one at the Jack Leaman Invitational, hosted by Amherst College. Action, which took place at Hickory Ridge, saw the Lyons post a combined score of 332. Leading the charge was junior captain Madi Mendiola, who is currently tied for eighth.

Mendiola concluded day one with a score of 79. First year Caroline Rubino sits 21st overall with a score of 83, while classmates June Conti and Heeamin Lee are both tied for 27th overall, each with a score of 85. Rounding out the team effort was first year Allison Shilling who sits 35th after day one with a score of 87.

Individually, first year Amanda Lee is tied for 21st with a mark of 83, while junior Hannah Falvey is 64th overall with a score of 95. Sophomore Hannah Lozinski and first year Kelly McElreath are 77th (104) and 78th (106), respectively, while sophomore Katie Poulin is 80th after day one with a score of 109.

Williams' Georgiana Salant currently leads the field, shooting a blistering 72 (-2) on the Par-74 course. As a team, Amherst and Ithaca are both tied for the lead with a score of 318. Merrimack sits third overall with a score of 321, while Williams (324), Middlebury (331) and Mount Holyoke (332) round out the top six.

Action at the Jack Leaman Invitational continues on Sunday morning at 8am at The Orchards - Mount Holyoke's home course.
