Golf Finishes 6th at Jack Leaman Invitational

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - Action at the 2014 Jack Leaman Invitational has concluded and the Mount Holyoke College golf team finished sixth of 15 teams in this year's event. The Lyons posted a combined score of 657, paced by a 10th place finish from junior captain Madi Mendiola.

Mendiola posted a score of 82 on day two, which took place at MHC's home course, The Orchards. She finished the tournament with an overall score of 161 after posting a day one mark of 79.

First year June Conti surged from 27th on day one to a 14th place finish. After recording a score of 85 on day one, she shot a 77 to finish with a 162. Classmate Caroline Rubino finished 22nd overall, recording scores of 83 on both days for a combined score of 166.

Rounding out the team efforts were first years Heeamin Lee and Allison Shilling, who placed 27th and 61st, respectively. Lee recorded a combined score of 168 (85-83), while Shilling had a total of 188 (87-101).

Individually, first year Amanda Lee finished 27th with a score of 168 (83-85), while junior Hannah Falvey placed 69th overall with a score of 200 (95-105). First year Kelly McElreath finished 70th with a score of 202 (106-96), while sophomore Hannah Lozinski tied for 76th overall with a score of 211 (104-107). Sophomore Katie Poulin finished 81st with a final score of 224 (109-115).

Williams' Georgiana Salant won this year's individual title, shooting a combined 149 (72-77). As a team, Williams and Ithaca tied for victory, both squads shooting a 644. Merrimack was third with a score of 649, while Amherst (650), Middlebury (655) and Mount Holyoke (657) rounded out the top six.

The Lyons return to action next weekend when they compete at the Liberty League Championships. The event, which will be hosted by Wellesley College, will be held at the Crumpin-Fox Golf Club in Bernardston, Mass. Action both days begins at 9am.
