Volleyball falls at Wellesley in season finale

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Mount Holyoke College volleyball team was held to a season-low attack percentage in its final match of the season on Saturday, a 3-0 (25-13, 25-10, 26-24) loss at Wellesley College.

The host Blue (13-12, 3-8 NEWMAC) rose above the .500 mark to conclude the season, while the visiting Lyons finished 11-16 overall and 1-10 in conference play.

The Lyons totaled a season-low 14 kills in three sets to 42 for Wellesley, which attacked at a .200 percentage to -.065 for Mount Holyoke.

Kate Giang propelled Wellesley, collecting 15 kills, nine more than any other player in the match, to go with 17 digs.

Sophomore Madeline Barton (Brookfield, Wis.) led the Lyons with six kills, tying for her lowest total of the season, to go with 10 digs and three blocks. Junior Lucie Berclaz (Hull, Mass.) had four kills and nine digs, and sophmore Elle Rimando (Mililani, Hawaii) had three kills and four blocks. Sophomore Amelia Ringor (Lafayette, Ind.) led Mount Holyoke with 17 digs.

Mount Holyoke finishes with double-digit victories in consecutive seasons for the first time since 2004, after going 13-12 a season ago.
