CHICOPEE, Mass. -- The Mount Holyoke College volleyball team fell 3-1 in a competitive match against Framingham State, then rebounded with a 3-0 defeat of Elms College on Saturday in a non-conference tri-match at Elms.

Mount Holyoke (3-2) returns to action Tuesday at 7pm at home against Dean College.

Framingham State 3, Mount Holyoke 1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-18, 26-24)

The Lyons, missing a couple of key players from the lineup, gave a gritty effort against the Rams (3-2), but the Rams' hitting combination of Hailey Sanders (14 kills, .520 hitting percentage) and Anna Szymanski (12 kills, .306) was too effective to overcome. Framingham State hit at a .217 percentage for the match to Mount Holyoke's rate of .176.

Sophomore Madeline Barton (Brookfield, Wis.) led Mount Holyoke with 15 kills and 17 digs. Junior captain Lucie Berclaz (Hull, Mass.) had a career-high 12 kills in the match to go with nine digs, and sophomore setter Sadie Duffrin (Minneapolis, Minn.) passed out 29 assists in addition to five aces, three kills and six digs. Sophomore Amelia Ringor (Lafayette, Ind.) had 16 digs and first-year Katie Frank (Prairieville, La.) had nine kills.
