Berclaz, Li stand out for volleyball in 3-1 loss at Connecticut College

NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Junior captain Lucie Berclaz had a career-high 16 kills and her fourth double-double of the season as the Mount Holyoke College battled to a 3-1 non-conference loss at Connecticut College on Thursday night.

Emma Wheeler had 13 kills and Katherine Randall posted 12 kills and 11 digs to lead the host Camels (12-11)

Berclaz (Hull, Mass.), who moved from libero to outside hitter this season, had 16 kills and 11 digs, her third double-double in the past five matches and her third double-digit match in kills in the past five matches. She had 16 kills with six attack errors on 47 attempts, for her second-highest attack percentage of the season (.213).

First-year Serena Li (Scarsdale, N.Y.) also continued her strong recent play, notching six kills on a season-best attack percentage of .357, one match after recording a season-high seven kills against Clark.

Mount Holyoke sophomore outside hitter Madeline Barton (Brookfield, Wis.) tallied her 12th double-double of the season with 11 kills and 12 digs, while sophomore Amelia Ringor (Lafayette, Ind.) had a team-high 19 digs and sophomore Sadie Duffrin (Minneapolis, Minn.) had a match-high 27 assists.

The Lyons (11-15, 1-9 NEWMAC) play their final match of the season Saturday at Wellesley (12-12, 2-8 NEWMAC), starting at 1pm.
