BOSTON, Mass. – It was an outstanding evening of action for several members of the Mount Holyoke College indoor track & field team as they competed at the 2019 David Hemery Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston University. The meet, which featured many of the best competitors across all divisions, saw four personal records and four post-season meet qualifiers.

Junior Charleen Theroux kicked things off for the Lyons in the 200-meter dash – an event that featured 223 competitors over 46 sections. Theroux posted a time of 26.33 to finish 105th, which was not only a new personal record, but also a Division III New England Qualifying mark.

Next up was sophomore Simone Jacob who competed in the 1 mile run. In a field of over 204 competitors across 16 sections, Jacob took 145th overall with a season's best and personal record time of 5:20.10. Her time was also a DIII NE Qualifying mark.

The night of action concluded with sophomores Hannah Rieders and Madeline Rieders in the 3,000-meter run, which featured 11 sections with 182 runners. Hannah Rieders captured 139th overall with a personal record and DIII NE Qualifying time of 10:29.80. Her sister, Madeline was close behind in 140th with a personal record and DIII NE Qualifying time of 10:30.09.

Mount Holyoke returns to action on Saturday with competition at two venues. The Lyons will return to the Valentine Invitational with Nash, Theroux, senior Emsie Cronin and Jacob competing in the Distance Medley Relay at 10:30am. The rest of the squad will be in action at the Gordon Kelly Invitational, hosted by MIT in Cambridge. Action at that meet begins at 12pm.
