NEW LONDON, Conn. - It was another outstanding effort on Friday evening as six Mount Holyoke College track & field student-athletes were in action at the 2019 Silfen Elite Distance Festival at Connecticut College. Not only did the Lyons runners post five personal records, but three Division III qualifying marks were met, in addition to two NEICAAA qualifying marks.

The 800-meter run kicked things off for MHC on the evening as senior Corrin Moss and first year Sydney Nash both competed. Moss posted 20th overall in the event, crossing the line in a personal record time of 2:23.80 - which was nearly three seconds faster than her career-best. Nash went on to record a personal-best time of 2:25.39, a mark that put her 31st overall.  Next up was the 1500-meter run as sophomore Simone Jacob was in action. She crossed the line in 27th with a time of 5:00.60.

Concluding the evening was the gruelling 10000-meter run which was paced by sophomore Hannah Rieders who finished third overall. She posted a New England DIII and NEICAAA time of 38:27.60 - which was also a personal record. Her sister Madeline Rieders was close behind, crossing the line in fifth overall with a time of 38:28.33. That mark matched her sisters's in being an NE D3 and NEICAAA qualifying mark. Senior Hannah Gershone was also outstanding in the event, finishing 12th overall with a personal record time of 40:28.22. Her time was also a DIII qualifying time and was just four seconds short of an Open (NEICAAA) time.

The entire Mount Holyoke team is in action on Saturday, competing at the Penman Relays, hosted by Southern New Hampshire University. Action kicks-off at 10:00am.
