SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - Congratulations go out this week to Hannah Rieders, who was named the Lyon of the Week following an outstanding performance at the Silfen Elite Distance Meet at Connecticut College.

The sophomore, who hails from Wellesley, Mass., was one of six MHC student-athlete's to compete at the Silfen Elite. Competing in the 10,000-meter run, she posted a time of 38:27.60 - which was just 33 seconds off the all-time program record set back in 2001. Not only was her mark good for third overall, it was a New England Division III and Open New England qualifying time. It also marked her first time ever running the event collegiately.

Rieders has helped the Lyons' become the fifth-ranked 10,000-meter squad in the NCAA Division III. Additionally, she ranks 44th among all Division III women's runners in the 10k this year.

Along with her twin sister, Madeline Rieders, the duo has posted a number of outstanding efforts since joining the squad in January. During the indoor campaign, she opened with a fourth-place finish in the 3,000-meters at the Massasoit Classic. Rieders went on to earn 139th in the 3k at the highly competitive BU Valentine Invitational, before joining with her sister and two others to win the 4x800 relay at MIT's Gordon Kelly Invite.

Rieders earned her first collegiate running win in the 5,000-meters at the Middlebury Team Challenge and moved on to post 13th overall in the 3k at the New England Division III Championships.

The outdoor campaign saw another set of personal bests met, beginning with a win in the 5,000-meters at the Wesleyan Spring Invitational. She followed that up with sixth in the 5k at the Tufts Snowflake Classic, backed by second overall in the 1,500-meter race at Amherst.

Mount Holyoke returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Springfield College to take part in the final meet before the NEWMAC Championships on Apr. 27th.
