WESTWOOD, Mass. – The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced its weekly awards and Mount Holyoke College student-athlete Abby Baldwin was recognized. The first year garnered Offensive Athlete of the Week honors after an outstanding debut in her first collegiate lacrosse game last week.

A native of Florence, Mass., Baldwin made a big statement on both ends of the field as the Lyons bested Gordon College on the road by an 18-3 margin. In addition to recording a game-high six goals - on a game-best 15 shots (8 on goal) - she also had an assist for seven points. The rookie also posted four ground balls with a game-best six draw controls and four caused turnovers. Highlighting her outstanding game was a four-goal effort through the first 30 minutes to give the Lyons an 8-1 advantage.

The former Northampton High School standout is also a member of the Lyons field hockey team, where she posted three goals and two assists for eight points as a starter in all 19 games.

Prior to her arrival at Mount Holyoke, Baldwin was a four-year standout in lacrosse at Northampton, serving as a captain during her senior season, while earning First Team All-Western Massachusetts All-Star nods three years in a row. In addition to being the team's Most Valuable Player, she finished as the school's all-time leading scorer with 246 goals and 356 points. Baldwin was also a two-time Conference All-Star in field hockey, helping her squad to back-to-back conference championships. A multi-sport athlete, Baldwin was also a three-year member of the school's indoor track & field team, serving as captain while also qualifying for the State Championships in intermediate sprints three times.

Baldwin and her Lyons lacrosse teammates return to action on Saturday when they host Bridgewater State on the turf field. MHC's home opener is slated to begin at 12pm.
