Wysocki Named NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Week

WESTWOOD, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced its weekly award winners and Mount Holyoke College student-athlete Mia Wysocki was recognized. The junior goalie was named the women's lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Week after backstopping the Lyons to a 2-0 mark in conference play.

A native of Longmeadow, Mass., Wysocki recorded 25 saves over 120:00 minutes of action as the Lyons defeated Emerson and Wellesley. She made 17 stops at Emerson as MHC notched a 21-3 victory. Wysocki then made eight critical saves and had three ground balls (2nd most among all players) in a 15-12 win over Wellesley as the Lyons notched their first win over the Blue since the 2014 season.

Wysocki has started all 12 games this season, amassing 535:22 minutes in the cage. Boasting a 6-5 record, she has made 85 saves for a .452 save percentage and an 11.54 goals against average. Overall, Wysocki ranks second among all conference goalies in save percentage and lowest goals against with 103 allowed. She also owns the fourth-best GAA in the NEWMAC.

Over three games during the 2019 campaign, Wysocki has recorded 10 or more saves three times, her total at Emerson being a season's best.

During her sophomore season, the Longmeadown High School graduate started 14 games in goal. She had a 13.29 goals against average with a .414 save percentage. Wysocki also recorded 123 saves in the cage over 785:17 minutes of play.

As a first year, Wysocki started four of 14 games played. She notched 68 saves over 459:06 minutes of action, while owning a 12.55 goals against average and a .415 save percentage.

Mount Holyoke is currently 7-5 on the season and returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Springfield for a 4pm conference tilt.
