Three Lyons earn CSC Academic All-District honors in basketball

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- The Mount Holyoke College basketball team saw three of its players receive NCAA Division III Academic All-District honors from College Sports Communicators, as announced on Tuesday, with sophomore Sofia Francisco, junior Alex Twomey, and sophomore Emma Zoubok all winning the award.

The 2024-25 Academic All-District Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. 

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. An undergraduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). Basketball student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games/contests played OR must start in at least 66 percent of the team games/contests.

Francisco (Boston, Mass.), who majors in both environmental studies and geography, played in all 25 games and made 24 starts in 2024-25, averaging 6.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.8 blocked shots per game.

Twomey (Nutley, N.J.), an astronomy major, played in all 25 games, making 21 starts. She averaged 8.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game.

A biology major, Zoubok (Somers, N.Y.) played in 24 games in her first season on the basketball team. Also a goalie on the soccer team, Zoubok averaged 2.7 points per game and made 18 3-pointers on the season.
