CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Sophomore guard Hannah Goen scored a career-high 20 points, while junior Alex Twomey and first-year Helena Robinson added 10 points apiece in the Mount Holyoke basketball team's 63-58 loss at Lesley University on Saturday afternoon.

The host Lynx (3-1) took a 2-1 series lead against the Lyons (0-3); the non-conference opponents will meet again at Mount Holyoke on Tuesday, Dec. 10.

For the second straight game, Mount Holyoke outshot their opponents from the field (.412 to .348) and from three-point range (.273 to .100). All three of the Lyons' losses have come by single-digit margins.

Twomey (Nutley, N.J.) scored in double figures for the third time in as many games with her 10 points, while team highs of eight rebounds, four assists and two steals. Robinson (Gales Ferry, Conn.) had her second 10-point game of the young season to go along with seven rebounds and three assists. Sophomore Sofia Francisco (Boston, Mass.) also grabbed eight rebounds to go with eight points, and senior Cal McGonagle (Yarmouth, Maine) added eight points to go with five rebounds and two steals.

The Lyons jumped out to an 8-2 lead and led by as many as nine points (19-10) early in the second quarter, but the Lynx erased it with a 9-0 run to tie the game at 19-19.

The score remained tight for the rest of the game, with the lead changing hands six times through the third quarter. Goen's second three of the day gave the Lyons a 42-41 lead to end the third quarter. A pair of hoops by Goen in the opening minutes of the fourth opened a 49-43 lead for the Lyons with 7:30 to go, before a 7-0 spurt by the Lynx returned the lead to the hosts with 6:14 to go.

Savannah Gravitt's layup made it 56-54 in the hosts' favor, and she went on to score three more points for a 59-54 Lesley lead. A three-point play by Leila Chisholm all but sealed the win for Lesley at 62-55 with 1:19 to go.

Goen's eruption represents Mount Holyoke's most points scored in a game since Kendall Maurer's 21 points against Bard on Jan. 11, 2023. Her previous career high was 12 points, scored at Wentworth on Jan. 11, 2024.

Bella Terry led the Lynx with 18 points. Madalynn Biagi and Chisholm added 11 apiece and Jaira Moore scored 10 points off the bench.

Mount Holyoke will host Westfield State on Tuesday at 7pm.
