AMHERST, Mass. -- Competing with a very high-quality field including the likes of Amherst, MIT, Middlebury, Williams, Wesleyan, and Brandeis, the Mount Holyoke College track and field team rose to the challenge with a day of personal-best efforts Saturday at the Amherst Spring Fling, a non-scoring meet at Amherst College.

Senior captain Emma Doyle (West Lebanon, N.H.) joined her third team top-10 performance list in outdoor track and field with a personal-best mark of 35.66 meters in the hammer throw. Doyle was also fourth-best in a field of 27 in the shot put, with a top mark of 11.04 meters, and third-best out of 30 athletes in the discus throw, at 32.21 meters.

Meanwhile sophomore Tessa Lancaster (Mansfield, Mass.) finished fourth out of nine runners in the 5,000 meters with a personal-record time of 18:25.99. Other Mount Holyoke highlights included:
