Inaugural Mount Holyoke-Smith-Wellesley Tri-Meet a success for the Lyons

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. -- The Mount Holyoke College track and field team made moves on its all-time top-10 performance lists in five events, in a successful day for the Lyons at the first Mount Holyoke-Smith-Wellesley Tri-Meet, hosted by Smith College.

Under the meet's 5-3-2-1 scoring structure, Mount Holyoke scored 43 team points, third behind Wellesley (66) and Smith (56).

First-year Elle Rimando (Mililani, Hawaii) was a scoring machine for Mount Holyoke, taking first place in the 60-meter dash (8.23 seconds), the 200-meter dash (27.17 seconds) and the triple jump (10.48 meters), as well as fourth place in the long jump (4.74 meters), for 16 points.

Rimando lowered her 200-meter time from earlier this season by 0.24 seconds, and moved past Jacinta Edebeli (2011) and into seventh place on Mount Holyoke's all-time performance list in the event.

Other highlights for Lyons included:

  • Sophomore Tessa Lancaster (Mansfield, Mass.) ran the mile in 5:19.75, her career-best time by nearly four seconds. Lancaster finished third in the event and moved up from ninth to sixth place on Mount Holyoke's all-time perfomance list in the mile, passing Madeline Rieders from 2020, Hannah Rieders from 2020, and Sarah Sladen from 2002.
  • Sophomore Aria Mallare (Chicago, Ill.) placed fifth in the long jump with a career-best distance of 4.68 meters, which moves her onto Mount Holyoke's all-time top 10 list in ninth place, displacing Isabelle Wohlin (2017) and Maggie Mills (2002) on the list. Mallare also placed third in the high jump (1.36 meters).
  • Senior captain Emma Doyle (West Lebanon, N.H.) took first place in the shot put with a top distance of 11.15 meters. Doyle also placed third in the weight throw (10.35 meters) and the 60-meter hurdles (10.92 seconds).
  • Sophomore Erin Siegel (San Diego, Calif.) took second place in the weight throw with a personal-best mark of 10.59 meters. Siegel moved out of a tie with Maria Smith (2004) to take sole possession of 10th place on Mount Hoyoke's all-time performance list in the event.
  • Sophomore Kim Beaver (Agawam, Mass.) moved onto Mount Holyoke's all-time top-10 list in the 1,000-meter run, taking over 10th place from Jenna Slipke (2013) with a fourth-place time of 3:11.40.
  • Senior Devan Ravino (West Kingston, R.I.) placed third in the 800-meter run with a personal-best time of 2:25.63, just 0.03 seconds outside of the program's all-time top 10 list in the event. Ravino qualified for the New England Division III Championships with her performance.
  • Sophomore Lize Brown (New London, Conn.) placed second in the shot put with a top mark of 9.11 meters and fourth in the weight throw (9.17 meters).
  • Junior Bridget Hall (Arlington, Mass.) placed fourth in the 3,000-meter run with a personal-best time of 11:13.48.
  • Senior captain Lucy Sternberg (Stonington, Conn.) took fourth place in the triple jump (9.26 meters).

Mount Holyoke will compete at the New England Division III Indoor Championships next weekend, Feb. 24-25 at The Track at New Balance in Boston.
