Swimming and Diving Opens Competition at 2020 NEWMAC Championships

Cambridge, Mass. - February 20, 2020 - The Mount Holyoke College swimming and diving team opened competition at the 2020 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship on Thursday evening, as the Lyons began the four-day meet hosted at MIT's Zesiger Sport and Fitness Center and currently sit in a tie for ninth overall.

The Lyons had a pair of teams competing in the only event of the night, the 800 freestyle relay, as the team of Gigi Picard (Wilmette, Ill.), Adrienne Corr (San Diego, Calif.), Lauren Leese (Round Rock, Texas) and Naomi Brown (Bloomington, Ind.) produced a time of 8:37.94 to take 10th overall.

Mount Holyoke College's next team finished 19th overall, as the team of Natalie Burkett (Framingham, Mass.), Courtney Dunham (Pawling, N.Y.), Riley Hicks (Bow, N.H.) and Sarah Ratzlaff (Salt Lake City, Utah) combined for a time of 8:53.03. 

The Lyons will return to the pool during the 10 a.m. morning session on Friday, February 21.
