Squash goes 3-0 at home with wins over Smith, Vassar, and Wellesley

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- The No. 31 nationally ranked Mount Holyoke College squash team enjoyed a 3-0 Saturday at the MHC Squash Courts, with wins over Smith, No. 30 Vassar and Wellesley. Playing match hosts for the only time this season, the Lyons raised their record to 5-8 and closed out a 4-1 week with a 9-0 shutout of Smith, a 6-3 win over Vassar and an 8-1 decision against Wellesley.

Mount Holyoke made a bid to move up in the College Squash Association rankings with its key win over the No. 30 Brewers. Mount Holyoke won two points by default, but also outscored Vassar 4-3 in contested matches.

Scoring for the Lyons and going 3-0 on the day were sophomore Ku Paw (Hartford, Conn.) with a 3-0 win at the No. 2 position over Adriana Ordaya; senior Kyla Core (Philadelphia, Pa.) with a 3-1 win over Sophia Choudhri at the No. 4 position; first-year Baya Jaiswal (Vaishali, India) with a comeback 3-2 win over Kelsey O'Connell at No. 5; and sophomore Lara Gao (Wuhan, China) with a 3-0 victory at No. 6 over Perla Veal.
