PHILADEPHIA -- The Mount Holyoke College squash team played two matches Friday in the Walker Cup portion of the CSA Division Team Championships, held at the Arlen Specter U.S. Squash Center, with the No. 30 nationally ranked Lyons falling 9-0 to No. 27 Denison University in the opening round, before No. 31 Vassar edged Mount Holyoke 5-4 in consolation play.

Mount Holyoke will play No. 32 Bard College on Saturday at 12:30pm as the tournament concludes.

Teams ranked between 21st and 32nd nationally by the College Squash Association are competing in the Walker Cup.

Mount Holyoke played a competitive match against Denison, but the Big Red prevailed without losing a set. Sophomore Katherine Sloop (Houston, Texas) threatened to take a set at the No. 9 position against Golda Mehl before falling 12-10, 11-7, 11-5. Sophomore Ku Paw (Hartford, Conn.) and first-year Sachary Rodriguez Robles (Bronx, N.Y.) scored 15 and 12 points, respectively, at the third and first positions on the ladder.
