Squash plays competitively against Amherst and Hamilton

AMHERST, Mass. -- The Mount Holyoke College squash team travled to neighboring Amherst College on Saturday for a pair of matches against more highly ranked opponents, but played competitively in a pair of 9-0 losses against No. 13 Amherst and No. 26 Hamilton.

The 31st-ranked Lyons first faced Amherst (BOX), with first-year Sachary Rodriguez Robles (Bronx, N.Y.) returning to the No. 1 position in the lineup to play the Mammoth's No. 1, Alex Brown, to an 11-5, 11-7, 11-5 decision. Sophomore Tina Mei (Brooklyn, N.Y.) fell 11-8 in her first game against Yana Sharma at No. 3 en route to a 3-0 loss.

on Saturday afternoon against Hamilton (BOX), Mei fell 11-7, 11-4, 11-2 at No. 3 to Gainsley Korengold, and Rodriguez lost 11-5, 11-2, 11-3 to Eliana Good at No. 1. Senior Kyla Core (Philadelphia, Pa.) came on strong against Lily Spencer at No. 5, falling 11-2, 11-5, 11-7, and first-year Baya Jaiswal (Vaishali, India) took Chiara Nadel to an 11-6, 11-6, 11-5 decision at No. 6.

Mount Holyoke will return to action after the holiday break by facing Wesleyan University at MIT on Jan. 16 at 5pm.
