DANBURY, Conn. (Nov. 19, 2011) – Led by Maya Lazarovich, the Mount Holyoke swimming and diving team cruised to a 177-119 triumph over Western Connecticut State University this afternoon at the O'Neill Center. The first year figured in on four first place finishes for the Lyons, who closed out a perfect weekend and improved to 3-1 on the year.

Caitlin Lewis Lazarovich and senior Lydia Bowers contributed to both of Mount Holyoke's relay victories. After joining forces with sophomores Sin Seanne Ng and Lauren Williams to post a winning time of 1:59.04 in the 200-yard medley relay, the duo combined with first year Rachel Boynton and junior Nora Cunningham to record a first place time of 3:59.76 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

The Lyons also came out on top in six of the remaining 12 swimming events. Mount Holyoke's remaining wins came from sophomore Allison Burhoe (200-yard individual medley – 2:30.09) and senior Sarah Rooney (50-yard freestyle – 26.85).

Sophomores Kathie Meerman and Danielle Leprine won three events apiece to lead the way for Western Connecticut State (0-3). Meerman finished first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.95), the 100-yard freestyle (57.16) and the 500-yeard freestyle (5:37.28).
