WORCESTER, Mass. (Nov. 11, 2011) – The Mount Holyoke College swimming and diving team fell 148-108 to Assumption College this evening at the Plourde Recreation Center. It was the first ever meeting between the two programs. The Greyhounds came out on top in 11 of the 14 events to secure their second straight win.

Senior Lydia Bowers figured in on two first place finishes to lead the way for Mount Holyoke. After touching the wall first in the 100-yard freestyle (57.91), she joined forces with classmate Sarah Rooney, junior Nora Cunningham and junior Lindsey Kanno to win the 200-yard freestyle relay with a pool-record time of 1:45.78.

Bowers teamed up with sophomore Lauren Williams, first year Maya Lazarovich and sophomore Sin Seanne Ng to grab second place in the 200-yard medley relay (1:58.85). She also chipped in with a third place showing in the 200-yard freestyle (2:07.44).

Williams took home top honors in the 50-yard freestyle with her pool-record time of 26.29. She also collected second place in the 50-yard butterfly (29.36) and third place in the 100-yard backstroke.

Lazarovich posted second place finishes in both the 50-yard (33.40) and 100-yard (1:11.33) breaststroke events. Meanwhile, Kanno added third place showings in both the 50-yard (34.01) and 100-yard (1:15.55) breaststroke races.

Mount Holyoke's remaining third place finishes came from Ng (50-yard backstroke – 31.35), Cunningham (100-yard freestyle – 58.47) and sophomore Joselyn Auxer (50-yard butterfly – 31.50).

The Lyons (1-1) are slated to host Trinity College next Friday at 6:30 p.m.
