Meet Program | Senior Day Insert

THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke closes out its home slate with a dual-meet against Wellesley College Saturday afternoon (1:00 p.m.) at the Natatorium. The Lyons have sprinted to a 5-2 record this season thanks to outstanding production from senior Lydia Bowers, first year Maya Lazarovich and sophomore Lauren Williams. They are coming off a third place performance at the Seven Sisters Championship last weekend. Wellesley took home top honors at the event for the 15th year in a row. The Blue have gone 6-1 in dual-meets thus far this season. They have been paced by sophomore Keelin Nave.

SENIOR DAY: Prior to the meet, a senior day celebration will take place to honor Lydia Bowers, Claire Gregg, Morgan Herrell, Sarah Rooney and Isa Wismann-Horther for their contributions to the program over the last four seasons.

MHC Logo THE LYONS: Mount Holyoke (5-2) has exploded out of the gate, winning five of its first seven dual-meets of the season. After posting a 170-126 victory over Westfield State University, the Lyons rolled to a 136-104 triumph over Trinity College. It was their first win over the Bantams since the 2000-01 season. They have also picked up wins over Western Connecticut State University (177-119) Wheaton College (126-110) and Simmons College (154-137). Just over three months into her career at Mount Holyoke, first year Maya Lazarovich has already claimed top honors 24 times. She has been most impressive in the breaststroke, butterfly and individual medley events. The Lyons have also received solid production from senior freestyler Lydia Bowers, who has figured in on 20 wins. Sophomore Lauren Williams has chipped in with 16 victories. The trio combined for first place finishes in both the 200-yard medley relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay at the Seven Sisters Championship last weekend.

Opponent Logo THE BLUE: Wellesley (6-2) has used its overall team depth to amass six dual-meet victories thus far this season. Led by sophomore Keelin Nave and Hayley Goydan, the Blue picked up their 15th straight Seven Sisters Championship last weekend. Nave dominated the competition, piling up four individual wins. She also figured in on three relay triumphs. In addition to setting Seven Sisters records in the 100-yard butterfly (59.21), the 100-yard freestyle (53.53) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:11.92), she also touched the wall first in the 500-yard freestyle (5:11.37). Goydan swept the diving events with scores of 439.50 off the one-meter board and 441.35 off the three-meter board. She surpassed NCAA qualification standards in both events and established a new Seven Sisters record off the one-meter. Nave and Goydan each earned NEWMAC Weekly Awards as a result of their performances.

NEXT UP: Both squads will put the finishing touches on their regular season schedules next Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Mount Holyoke will visit longtime rival Smith College, while Wellesley will travel to Bates College for a tri-meet with Connecticut College.
