With longtime head coach Dave Allen leading the way, the Mount Holyoke swimming and diving team posted a dual meet record of 6-3 in 2011-12. The Lyons defeated Westfield State University, Trinity College, Western Connecticut State University, Wheaton College, Simmons College and Smith College.

They also took home third place at the Seven Sisters Championship thanks to standout efforts from senior Lydia Bowers and first year Maya Lazarovich.

After teaming up with first year Rachel Boynton and sophomore Lauren Williams to win the 200-yard freestyle relay, they joined forces with Williams and sophomore Joselyn Auxer to post the top time in the 200-yard medley relay.

Bowers went on to claim individual victories in the 50-yard and 200-yard freestyle races, while Lazarovich came up with wins in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke events.

Winners of each race were named to the All-Championship Team.

Led by Williams, Mount Holyoke swimmers shattered seven school records at the NEWMAC Championships. The sophomore figured in five to set the tone.

Two of those came in the 200-yard medley relay, where she teamed up with Lazarovich, Auxer and Bowers to post an eighth place time of 1:54.44. She completed the lead leg of the race in 28.72 to set a new 50-yard backstroke mark.

The sophomore's ninth place time of 1:00.97 in the 100-yard backstroke was good for tops in program history. She also set a new record in the 800-yard freestyle relay along with Lazarovich, Bowers and first year Rachel Boynton. The quartet touched the wall in 8:08.83 to secure eighth place.

Bowers added her name to the record books with a 12th place time of 1:59.39 in the 200-yard freestyle. Meanwhile, Lazarovich established a new 50-yard breaststroke record with her first split time of 32.26 in the preliminaries of the 100-yard breaststroke. The rookie closed out her weekend with a 10th place time of 2:29.64 in the 200-yard breaststroke.

Lazarovich played a part in 28 first place finishes during her rookie campaign. She was named NEWMAC Swimmer of the Week on January 17. Bowers earned NEWMAC Swimmer of the Week honors three weeks later. Over the course of the season, she figured in on 19 wins. Meanwhile, Williams contributed to 24 victories.
