Swimming and Diving: Western Connecticut State at Mount Holyoke

THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke kicks off its 2010-11 home slate versus Western Connecticut State University Saturday afternoon (1:00 p.m.) at the Mount Holyoke Natatorium. MHC Logo THE LYONS: After opening its season with a second place finish at Betty Spears Relays, Mount Holyoke (1-0) grabbed top honors at the Regis College Invitational for the second straight year last weekend. The Lyons topped Westfield State University 166-134 in its first dual meet of the season on Wednesday. The team has been paced by newcomer Lauren Williams, who has figured in on 10 wins over her first three collegiate competitions. Sophomore  Madeline Magee has contributed to eight wins, while first year Sin Seanne Ng has totaled seven.

Western Connecticut THE COLONIALS: Western Connecticut State (2-1) has captured back-to-back dual meet victories after falling 153.5-130.5 in its season opener against Eastern Connecticut State University. The Colonials rebounded with a 153-109 triumph at Western New England College last Friday and followed that with a 167-122 win over St. Joseph College the following afternoon. First year Katherine Meerman has figured in on 12 victories, while senior Megan Scully has added nine. Divers Nicole Olmstead and Heather Bodington have collected two wins apiece.

NEXT UP: Both squads will return to action on Saturday December 4. Mount Holyoke will play host to Wellesley College and Smith College at 10:00 a.m., while Western Connecticut will take part in the Little East Conference Championships at the University of Massachusetts at 11:00 a.m.
