SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Nov. 20, 2010) – The Mount Holyoke College swimming and diving team cruised to a 163-130 victory over Western Connecticut State University this afternoon at the Mount Holyoke Natatorium. With their second straight victory over the Colonials, the Lyons improved to 2-0 on the year.

Junior Lydia Bowers figured in on three of Mount Holyoke's seven wins to lead the way. After teaming up with first year Sin Seanne Ng, sophomore Madeline Magee and first year Lauren Williams to post a program record time of 1:55.59 in the 200-yard medley relay, she recorded individual victories in the 100 (57.26) and 200-yard (2:07.42) freestyle events.

Magee went on to record the top time in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.06), while Williams added an individual title in the 200-yard individual medley (2:19.49).

First year Allison Burhoe took top honors in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:58.93), and sophomore Nora Cunningham came up with a win in the 50-yard freestyle (26.23).

Western Connecticut State collected first place in eight of the 15 events. The Colonials were paced by first year Katherine Meerman, who was a triple winner. She posted victories in both the 100 (1:01.61) and 200-yard (2:16.06) backstroke events as well as the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.11).

The Colonials' remaining win came from senior Megan Scully, who touched the wall first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:37.61).
