Swimming and Diving: Simmons at Mount Holyoke

THE MATCHUP: Mount Holyoke hosts Simmons College Saturday afternoon (1:00 p.m.) at the Mount Holyoke Natatorium. In 11 previous meetings between the programs, the Lyons own a 6-4 advantage. The teams have finished in a deadlock on one occasion. Last season, Mount Holyoke rolled to a 161-138 triumph over the Sharks. They also prevailed 154-145 during the 2008-09 campaign. Meet Program

MHC Logo THE LYONS: In addition to posting victories over Westfield State University, Western Connecticut State University and Clark University, Mount Holyoke (3-1) has also secured first place at the Regis College Invitational thus far this season. The Lyons have been paced by newcomer Lauren Williams, who has figured in on 19 wins over her first six collegiate competitions. Madeline Magee, Sin Seanne Ng, Lydia Bowers, Nora Cunningham, Sarah Rooney and Michelle Kroll have also enjoyed productive seasons.

Simmons THE SHARKS: Simmons took home its ninth GNAC Championship in 10 years when it last competed in early December. The Sharks were paced by Amanda Dirksmeier, who won both the one and three meter diving events with record breaking scores. Anne Karasek, Molly Bohannon, Amy Davis and Virginia Bette also established a new GNAC record with their winning time in the 800-yard freestyle relay. Meanwhile, Bette touched the wall first in the 100-yardbackstroke. Simmons has gone winless in four dual-meets thus far this season.

NEXT UP: Mount Holyoke will return to action on Wednesday, when it visits Trinity College at 4:00 p.m. Meanwhile, Simmons will resume its schedule at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
