Field Hockey Earns NFHCA Team Academic Award; 16 Student-Athletes Recognized Individually

Gilbert, Ariz. - March 7, 2022 - The Mount Holyoke College field hockey team was recently honored for their hard work in the classroom as the Lyons collected the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III National Academic Team Award for the 24th-consecutive season.

The Division III National Academic Team Award recognizes programs that earned a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester of the 2021-2022 academic year. The Mount Holyoke field hockey team earned this distinction by producing a team grade-point average of 3.66 during the fall semester. 

Additionally, 16 Mount Holyoke College student-athletes were named to the NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad. The Division III National Academic Squad program honors student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 or higher through the first semester of the 2021-2022 academic year.

The 16 members of the field hockey program that were recognized include Phoebe Aarsonson (Mountain View, Calif.)Abby Baldwin (Florence, Mass.)Emma Bowler (Worcester, Mass.)Kylie Brooks (Oceanside, Calif.), Sophia Guziewicz (Enfield, N.H.)Andie Hardin (Pittsburgh, Pa.)Rachel Katzenberg (Reistertown, Md.)Julia Klein (West Hartford, Conn.)Kass Lawrence (Holyoke, Mass.)Leah Manning (Durham, N.H.)Kate Perrin (Spofford, N.H.)Margaret Robb (Summit, N.J.)Madison Stover (Topsham, Maine)Amanda Thibodeau (Lebanon, Maine)Caroline Thompson (Harwich, Mass.)Gracie Wilkinson (Amherst, Mass.)

Seven seniors, Aaronson, Baldwin, Bowler, Klein, Lawrence, Robb, and Stover have now collected National Academic Squad recognition for all four years. Additionally, Bowler, Katzenberg, Thibodeau, and Wilkinson were among over 500 student-athletes nationwide to be listed as an NFHCA Division III Scholar of Distinction. This is Bowler's third-consecutive year collecting this academic honor. The Division III Scholars of Distinction program recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher through the first semester of the 2021-22 academic year.
