  • Tennis Garners ITA All-Academic Recognition

    The ITA recently announced its All-Academic Teams as well as its Scholar Athletes for the 2013-14 season. Six members of the Lyons squad were named Scholar-Athletes. In addition, the program picked up All-Academic Team accolades. It marks the 12th time in the last 13 years that the team has earned All-Academic honors.

    Powered by strong efforts from each end of the lineup, the Mount Holyoke tennis team qualified for the NEWMAC Tournament for the 10th straight season, while putting forth a third-place finish at the Seven Sisters Championship.
  • Tennis Defeats Roger Williams, 5-4 on Senior Day

    The Mount Holyoke College tennis team concluded its 2013-14 campaign on Saturday, posting a 5-4 victory over Roger Williams University. The victory moves the Lyons to a final mark of 11-9, while the Hawks are now 13-7 on the season. Additionally, MHC honored its three graduating seniors in a pre-match ceremony, including AnnElizabeth Konkel, Eman Malik and Maya Sayarath.
  • Tennis Concludes Action at Seven Sisters Championship

    Action at the 2014 Seven Sisters Championship has concluded and the Mount Holyoke College tennis team finished the weekend with a 2-2 overall record. Much like day one, the Lyons split action on Sunday, falling to Wellesley (4-1) before defeating Smith (5-0). MHC moves to 10-9 on the season after the four matches this weekend.
  • Tennis Splits Action at Day 1 of Seven Sisters Championship

    The Mount Holyoke College tennis team opened action at the 2014 Seven Sisters Championship on Saturday, hosted by Bryn Mawr College. The Lyons split action on the day, falling to Vassar College, 5-0, before defeating the host Owls by a 5-0 margin.
  • Tennis Records 6-3 Victory Over Connecticut College

    The Mount Holyoke College Lyons improved their record to 8-7 by defeating Connecticut College (1-5), 6-3 in a match played on the South Tennis Courts on Saturday. MHC saw an outstanding effort from the lower half of the singles lineup as the Lyons swept flights three through six.
  • Tennis Posts 9-0 Win Over Colby-Sawyer

    It was a dominant effort that pushed the Mount Holyoke College tennis team past Colby-Sawyer College by a 9-0 margin on Saturday morning at the MHC Field House. With the victory, the Lyons move to 7-7 on the season, while the Chargers slip to 10-5 overall.

    Mount Holyoke returns to its home court on Saturday, hosting the Chargers of Colby-Sawyer College. This match marks the fifth in the all-time series, dating back to the first game in 1990-91 - an 8-1 MHC victory. The Lyons own the series advantage with a 4-0-0 mark. It is also the first meeting between the two programs since the 2007-08 season, when Mount Holyoke posted a 9-0 win in South Hadley.
  • Tennis Shoulders Loss in Spring Opener to Bates

    The Lyons saw an outstanding effort, but it wasn't enough as Bates College picked up a 7-2 victory over Mount Holyoke College at the MHC Field House on Saturday. With the win, the Bobcats improve to 4-1 overall, while the Lyons, who were opening their spring schedule, dip to 6-7 on the season.
  • Tennis Suffers 6-0 Loss to Babson in NEWMAC Quarterfinals

    The fourth-seeded Babson College women’s tennis team swept three doubles matches and cruised to three straight-set wins in singles action to earn a 6-0 victory over fifth-seeded Mount Holyoke College in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) quarterfinal match on Wednesday afternoon at Farwell Courts.

    The Mount Holyoke College tennis team saw five pairs in action on Saturday at the 2013 NEWITT Tournament at the MHC Tennis Courts. The Lyons were paced by senior Maya Sayarath and sophomore Margaux Holloschutz, who advanced to the Second Round Quarterfinals of the B Draw before falling to a duo from Tufts.

    Action at the 2013 NEWITT Tournament kicked off this afternoon and five Mount Holyoke College pairs competed in the First Round of action, which took place on the campues of both MHC and Amherst College. Leading the way was the Lyons duos in the second and fourth positions of the B Draw, both of which advanced to the Round of 16.
  • Tennis Suffers 7-2 Loss to Babson; Secure Fifth-Seed for NEWMAC Tourney

    Led by a sweep of doubles and victories in four of six singles flights, the Babson College tennis team posted a 7-2 victory over Mount Holyoke College in the final regular season NEWMAC match for both teams. With the win, the Beavers move to 8-5 and 5-3 in the conference, while the Lyons slip to 6-5 and 4-4 in the NEWMAC.

    The Mount Holyoke College tennis team recorded victories in all six singles and took two of three doubles matches to post an 8-1 victory over Springfield College in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Tuesday evening. With the win, the Lyons improve to 6-4 overall and 4-3 in conference play, while the Pride slips to 6-4 and 3-4 in the NEWMAC.

    Visiting Mount Holyoke College rolled to an impressive 9-0 win over Clark University in New England Women’s And Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women’s tennis action on Saturday afternoon at the Corash Tennis Courts. With the win, the Lyons improve to 5-4 overall and even its league mark at 3-3, while the Cougars have now dropped six straight matches to fall to 2-10.

    Day two of the 2013 ITA New England Regional Tournament, hosted by Williams College, has concluded and three student-athletes from the Mount Holyoke College tennis team were in action. Each competed in consolation round action but fell in doubles and singles action.

All three will play in consolation round action on Saturday, including senior captain Eman Malik, who won her opening match in the feed in round to advance to the consolation singles.

With the win, the Lyons move to 4-4 overall and 2-3 in NEWMAC play, while Pioneers slip to 0-4 overall (0-4 NEWMAC).

With the victory, the Engineers move to 4-0 overall (4-0 in conference), while the Lyons slip to 3-4 and 1-3 in the NEWMAC.

    The Wellesley College tennis team nabbed a 7-2 victory over Mount Holyoke in NEWMAC action on Wednesday evening in Wellesley. The win lifts the Blue to 3-1 overall with a 2-1 conference mark, while the Lyons record evens at 3-3 with a 1-2 clip in the NEWMAC. Senior captain Eman Malik posted a victory in fifth flight singles to move to 6-0 on the season.

It was an all-around effort for the Lyons, who saw all six different players earn multiple victories. The host BlueJays move to 0-2 on the year.

    The Mount Holyoke College tennis team shouldered its first loss of the season, falling at Simmons College by a 6-3 margin. Both teams move to 1-1 on the young season. The win for the Sharks marks the fourth straight in the series.
