  • Tennis Team Garners ITA National Academic Honors

    The Intercollegiate Tennis Association recently announced its All-Academic Teams as well as its Scholar Athletes for the 2009-10 season. Five members of the Mount Holyoke College women’s tennis squad were named Scholar Athletes. In addition, the program picked up All-Academic Team accolades.

    With 17th year head coach Aldo Santiago leading the way, the Mount Holyoke tennis team qualified for the NEWMAC Tournament for the sixth straight season. The Lyons suffered a 5-3 setback to Smith College in the Quarterfinal Round. They closed out their 2009-10 campaign with an overall record of 10-11 and a league mark of 3-4.
  • Awards Handed Out at Annual Athletic Banquet

    The Mount Holyoke College Department of Athletics hosted its annual awards celebration this evening in Chapin Auditorium. Individuals from all 14 varsity teams were honored. Squash Head Coach Allen Fitzsimmons served as the event’s emcee. Soccer team member Lauren Orr earned the prestigious Alumnae Association Scholar-Athlete Award.

    Prior to the annual athletics awards celebration this evening, 17 Mount Holyoke seniors representing 11 teams were honored as part of the College's second annual Scholar Athlete Reception. The recognition event highlighted those student-athletes who have excelled both on the field and in the classroom.
  • Tennis Tandem Takes Home "Lyon of the Week"

    Senior Sarah London and first year My-Linh Nguyen have earned a share of the “Lyon of the Week” award for the week of April 12-18. The duo lifted the tennis team to a 7-2 triumph over Union College on Saturday. After combining for an 8-2 victory in their number two doubles match, both players secured wins in their respective singles contests.

    The Mount Holyoke College women’s tennis team rounded out its 2009-10 campaign with a 7-2 triumph over Union College this afternoon at the Mount Holyoke Tennis Courts. Sarah London, Heather Richardson and My-Linh Nguyen captured wins at both singles and doubles to push the Lyons to their fourth consecutive triumph.

    The Mount Holyoke College women’s tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory over non-conference foe Roger Williams University today at the Mount Holyoke Tennis Courts. Natalie Hsiang, Sarah Moore, Sarah London, Heather Richardson, My-Linh Nguyen and Carly Peltier posted wins at both singles and doubles in the Lyons fourth straight win.

    Senior Sarah London and first year My-Linh Nguyen captured victories at both singles and doubles to lead the Mount Holyoke College women’s tennis team to a thrilling 5-4 victory over the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute this afternoon at Sharp Courts. It was the Lyons third win in a row.
