Tennis Quartet Shares "Lyon of the WeeK" Honors

Senior Sarah London, junior Natalie Hsiang, sophomore Sarah Moore and first year My-Linh Nguyen have earned a share of the “Lyon of the Week” award for the week of March 22-28. The quartet propelled the tennis team to a third place finish at the 2010 Seven Sisters Championship over the weekend.

Throughout the tournament, Hsiang and Moore occupied the number one doubles position for Mount Holyoke. Meanwhile, London and Nguyen were the Lyons number two doubles tandem. Both teams earned three wins apiece.

Hsiang and Moore earned a thrilling 7-6 (8-6), 3-6, (10-4) victory in Mount Holyoke 4-1 loss to Wellesley on Saturday. The pair went on to secure key wins in their team's 3-2 victories over
both host Smith College and Bryn Mawr College on Sunday. After prevailing 6-1, 6-2 against Smith, they came out on top 6-3, 6-2 against Bryn Mawr.

After dropping their first set, London and Nguyen battled back for a 2-6, 6-2, (10-6) triumph in the Lyons 4-1 loss to eventual champion Vassar College on Saturday. The duo went on to record a 6-3, 6-2 win over Smith and a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Bryn Mawr. Prior to this weekend, London and Nguyen had never competed together as a doubles team.

Mount Holyoke also received solid production from first year Carly Peltier, who secured number three singles victories over both Smith and Bryn Mawr.
