Match Statistics???

Boston, Mass. (Oct. 1, 2009) – The Mount Holyoke College women’s tennis team slipped past non-conference opponent Simmons College 5-4 this afternoon at the Winsor School Courts. With the win, the Lyons improved to 2-3 on the year. The Sharks, who entered today’s action riding a five match winning streak, fell to 6-4.

Senior Sarah London and sophomore Sarah Moore each posted wins at both singles and doubles to set the tone for Mount Holyoke.

Moore teamed with junior Natalie Hsiang for an 8-5 triumph at the number two doubles position and also held on for a 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 victory in her number two singles contest.

Meanwhile, London cruised in both of her matches. The captain joined forces with first year Carly Peltier at the number three doubles slot, winning by a score of 8-3. She also collected a 6-0, 6-2 victory in her third singles match.

The Lyons remaining victory came from sophomore Heather Richardson, who overcame an early deficit to earn a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 win at the number five singles spot.

Mount Holyoke (2-3, 1-2 NEWMAC) will resume its New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) slate on Saturday, when it hosts Wellesley College at 1:00 p.m.
