Volleyball rolls past Fitchburg State for fourth straight win

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- Juniors Elle Rimando and Madeline Barton had 10 kills apiece as the Mount Holyoke College volleyball team swept Fitchburg State 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-11) on Thursday in Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium.

The Lyons rose to 7-1 on the season with their fourth straight victory. They will play a tri-match on Saturday at Worcester State with Suffolk University, before they open NEWMAC play on Tuesday against Smith College.

Fitchburg State dropped to 0-7.

Mount Holyoke attacked at a .213 rate, their second highest of the season, while limiting the Falcons to -.025.

Rimando (Mililani, Hawaii) had 10 kills with three errors on 17 attempts (.412), to go with two aces. First-year Olivia Murray (Miami, Fla.) added a season-high six kills on just seven swings (.714).

Junior Sadie Duffrin (Minneapolis, Minn.) posted 31 assists to go with three kills and eight digs. Senior Lucie Berclaz (Hull, Mass.) had six kills and tied for the team lead in digs with junior Amelia Ringor (Lafayette, Ind.) with 11. Ringor tallied four of Mount Holyoke's 11 aces in the contest.

Stephanie Sardella led the Falcons with eight kills.
