Swimming & Diving Bests Westfield State, 160-139

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - It was another victory for the Mount Holyoke College swimming & diving team, who bested Westfield State University by a 160-139 margin in dual meet action on Saturday. The Lyons are now 2-1 in dual meets this season, while the Owls slip to 0-2.

The Lyons got things going in the 200-medley relay as sophomore Jacqueline Park, senior Bri Groves and sophomore Naomi Brown and Tamara Mukulu combined for victory in a time of 1:56.51.

Sophomore Ashton Bliss then powered her way to a win in the 1000-yard freestyle, touching the wall in a time of 11:38.78. Park, along with sophomore Courtney Dunham went on to take 2nd (2:07.96) and 3rd (2:11.83) in the 200-yard freestyle, while rookie Adrienne Corr was runner-up in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 32.65.

Groves and rookie Emma Sullivan then posted second (32.10) and third (35.83) in the 50-yard breaststroke, as Brown garnered runner-up in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:05.14.

In the 50-yard freestyle, Mukulu was second with a time of 26.40, while sophomore Riley Hicks earned fourth with a time of 28.58.

The 1-meter diving event saw junior Samantha Nemivant earn the win, posting 252.05 points, while sophomore Katie Kolozsvari was second (215.45), followed by rookie Kathryn Murphy (189.95).

Groves and Mukulu then went 1-2 in the 100-yard free as Groves touched the wall first in a time of 56.35, followed by Mukulu in second with 59.69. Park earned runner-up in the 100-back with a time of 1:03.69, while Sullivan was second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a mark of 1:18.27.

Brown took second in the 500-free with a time of 5:46.81, while Bliss was victorious in the 50-fly with a time of 30.47. Nemivant went on to win the 3-meter diving event, posting an NCAA Qualifiying score of 273.40 points, while in the 100-yard individual medley, Groves picked up the win with a time of 1:03.48.

The meet rounded out with the 200-yard free relay as Brown, rookie GiGi Picard, Park and Mukulu combined to win in a time of 1:48.15.

Mount Holyoke returns to action next Saturday when it travels to Wellesley for a 1pm meet against the Blue.
