No. 16 MIT beats lacrosse for its ninth straight win

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- No. 16 nationally ranked MIT rolled to its ninth straight victory in defeating the Mount Holyoke College lacrosse team 25-2 on Saturday on Jack Barry Field.

The host Engineers (11-1, 5-0 NEWMAC) erupted for 13 goals in the first quarter to take early control of the game. Julianne Flusche scored four goals in the period, while Ashley Thomas scored three and Sydney Pyon added two.

MIT added six goals to its lead in the second quarter to take a 19-0 lead at the half, and the Engineers coasted to victory from there with a 42-3 advantage in shots for the game.

Sophomore Emi Bisson (Chester, Conn.) put the Lyons on the scoreboard in the third quarter with her 29th goal of the season. Junior captain Ella Phillips (Sandwich, Mass.) scored again for Mount Holyoke in the fourth quarter, her sixth goal of the year, with a feed from first-year Mackenzie Hillman (Newington, Conn.).

Thomas finished with a game-high five goals for MIT. Rabenold had two goals and five assists and Julianne Flusche posted four goals and three assists.

First-year Syd Baker (Needham, Mass.) made 10 saves for Mount Holyoke. Senior Caroline Thompson (Harwich, Mass.) had a team-high five draw controls.

Mount Holyoke (1-10, 0-4 NEWMAC) hosts Coast Guard Academy on Wednesday at 6pm.
